Vodka is made only from food ethyl rectified alcohol. Only qualitatively purified varieties produced from food raw materials have a "tolerance":

"Alpha". It is produced from bread cereals - rye, wheat or a mixture of different    ratios. Methyl alcohol content in "alpha" purification does not exceed 0.002%;

"Lux" is produced from various types of grain of cereal crops, both one kind and a mixture with the addition of potatoes (not more than 34%). Methyl alcohol content is allowed - up to 0.002%, as well as in "alpha" purification;

"Extra" is also grain alcohol. It is produced from wheat, rye, maize and triticale. May contain not more than 0.023% methyl alcohol;

Higher purification suggests that alcohol can be produced from various vegetable raw materials grown in agricultural enterprises: grains, potatoes, sugar beet, etc., as well as sugar production wastes. It may contain up to 0.031% methanol (methyl alcohol). It was the quality of alcohol that the attention of experts was aimed at. They looked for components that should not be in alcohol, and also checked the permissible amount of those substances that are necessarily present in alcohol (even food, high degree of purification).
